John's Thoughts

Delaware and Raritan Computer Screwup

Yesterday, I took a bike ride on the Delaware and Raritan Canal Towpath. I left here about 3pm, and I got into Princeton at six. I rode on the towpath for about 23 miles, then rode down 27 to Princeton, and took the train back. I didn't have a camera with me, but I plan on riding the path again, starting earlier in the day and hopefully finishing in Trenton.

Also, every day that passes I get more and more frustrated with Windows/x86 architecture. First, my old motherboard got wonky and I replaced it. I also had to send my 80GB hard drive back to Western Digital because it died on me. Just the other night, about two weeks after I put the computer back together, the computer flat out stopped working. I'd get the NT Blue Screen saying my new motherboard was not ACPI compliant. Not likely. I updated the motherboard BIOS, same error. So now, I have a hard drive hooked up to the PC lying outside of the case because I have begun the hard drive mambo, where I install/reinstall Windows multiple times, juggling hard drives so I don't lose data again, as did happen when the 80GB died.

So, a brief summary; Fuck Microsoft and Yay! Apple.

I wanna ride the towpath too! But you already know that. I'd just appreciate if you'd wait for me to mend properly before planning a trip. I think at least Chuck should come up and join us, as well as anyone else who'd want to, obviously. We can consider it a CENTRAL JERSEY TRIP!

Sorry I only take SOUTH JERSEY TRIPS. Tripping in South Jersey owns...

Oh, I see. Now Central Jersey trips. Apparently you're too good for South Jersey, eh? Traitor. DON'T EVER FORGET YOUR ROOTS. You were born here and you'll die here. I guess I'm going to have to make sure of that, eh? I guess that's the best thing about South Jersey. Miles and miles of woods. And swamps. You can hide bodies that will never be found. :-D

Central Jersey is better. We've got a gigantic gorge right behind our apartment complex where we can dispose of bodies! SO THERE!

Actually, biking in South Florida is better. You can do it year round in this nice wonderful climate where it doesn't snow or sleet.

Little Biggy Johnny Ricer,

Just get over it.

So Microsoft has a rush-to-market policy? You worship the ground Mr. Bill pisses on. And you know it. You couldn't even sell all the shit you do if it weren't for IBM being made to say, "OH NO! It's Mr. Bill!"

Microsoft's policy is like that followed by Paul Warburg, German banking imperialist and co-author of the Federal Income Tax Bill of 1913: "Boys, listen--our objective is to get this bill PASSED. We can always fix it up later."
